what a difference 2 years makes.
I read an unpublished post of mine today. It was from 11/11/08 and it was a little more raw than I think is appropriate to share. I was angry and frustrated about my job, about a job, and about myself. Overall 2008 wasn't my best year... or maybe it was. It was the year I lost my wedding rings, the year I didn't get the job I wanted, the year the market tanked and we didn't get the ranch... but I do remember feeling like maybe it was a teaching year....
I can't say I've learned much from it, but I do recognize the lessons.
- If you lose it - it doesn't always come back, and you can't always just by another one
- when you lose something - its not only you who suffers
- don't be anything but yourself - it won't work
- don't base your plans on what might happen
So i'm doing good on some but not all of those... who can guess.

follow up on that hairdryer
So we're at the Ranch and i'm getting party ready - blowdrying my hair - we've already had the killer cocktail from Richard - ask us to make it for you its delish... so you might say i'm drinking and drying (i'm as embarrassed for me as you)... and i drop this little one on the floor: T3 Bespoke Labs 83808-SE Featherweight Professional Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Hair Dryer
its still blowing so i won't buy a new one... and yes I recognize that it costs more than your revlon number - but it is seriously worth it. Its easy to use, actually makes your hair smoother and I really do love it.
i bought a travel hair dryer for our trip this week... it weighs a pound and promises luxurious locks! Lets see if i lose it;)

been awhile...
Lots on deck these last months. I said goodbye to Google, and hello to new opportunity. I haven't looked back once except occasionally with relief. I'm losing my memory these days so can't really be sure what I've lost in these last months - I am quite sure that that camera never turned up. Luckily I've bought an IPAD which surely will be added to the list eventually - no lets plan to not add it shall we?
I did break my hair dryer - its hanging by a thread at least... and I lost some dollars with an unfortunate sandal purchase that truly will never win me a fashion award.
But last night... I cooked something, a rarity these days. And I thought I would share. WE made a variation of this:
Roasted Tomato Fennel and White Bean dish with some Rosamunde Sausages that Eric went and picked up. It is on the Can't fuck this up recipe list because it was tasty and hearty and summery in a San Francisco Summer sort of way.
We also drank a bottle of wine that was delish - a 2001 Emillio Morrow Ribera Del Duero - I love a spanish little number for its sass and spice and this was aged well so it had this lovely texture and non-fruit forward flavor.
A read down cellar tracker... says "good loams and linen" but I don't know what that means... perhaps someday, and then let's hope I don't use it.
We're off to france and italy this week - can't believe its vacation.

holiday party
Suck it! I lost my bronze purse last night... either in coat check or at the post party bar. Still trying to track it down, but not so much hope.
we looked nice at least. blech.

how much to replace the key?
So this weekend was Jazz Fest, and e&I headed to New Orleans with some other sinners to have a great weekend eating, listening to music, enjoying the city and doing some more eating.
We stayed at the Columns Hotel in the Garden District which is highly recommended for a group travelling together Reasonable room rates, free breakfast, idyllic location, huge southern porch for meeting up, and cocktails, and a full bar of delicious elixirs to help you transition to the next part of your activities.
I manage to lose our key - between our room and the front porch - it just disappeared.
So on the last day when I checked out the front desk woman told me in a sheepish sad way they would have to charge me for it. I figure $25, $50, no they charged me exactly $5 dollars.. Yes no zeros - just a simple fee to re-cut that key. Nicest place I've stayed in awhile.

crazy.
so yesterday i let you know that my tom ford's returned to me. well this am on my way to the car with my little haiku i notice 2 things; one, my car is SUPER clean - thank you A&C... and two the passenger door is open. Someone broke into our car (happens occasionally) and did some "organizing of our papers". I know what you are thinking... the sunglasses are gone. But no... they aren't. They did not take anything - but a little spare change for parking. They didn't take my "Bon Appetit", the beef jerky, the plaid umbrella (which confirms it really is ugly), or my freaking awesome sunglasses. They were there in the glove compartment... could it be the start of the great return?
